ATP Synthase [AR] app for iPhone and iPad
Developer: The Chinese University of Hong Kong
First release : 04 Oct 2018
App size: 88.78 Mb
This app provides an Augmented Reality (AR) experience to users who are interested in learning about the structure and function of ATP synthase in mitochondria. By scanning a tailored 2-D figure with a mobile phone camera, an animated 3-D molecule of ATP synthase will be popped up instantly and all their subunits start working. Users can learn about the roles of proton ions and the functions of Fo and F1 subunits of the ATP synthase. In addition to the computer animation, this app also provides a Ribbon View for users to inspect the secondary protein structures with alpha helices / beta sheets shown. Together with its affiliated app “Mitochon VR”, this learning tool can also be used to facilitate the learning of mitochondrial Electron Transport Chain (ETC) and the rotational catalysis of ATP synthase.
